In the village street, just after the Bornweg junction, there is a thatched half-timbered cottage surrounded by linden trees. In the garden you can still see an old shed that was temporarily used by the fire brigade, whose fire station was just a few metres away.
The farmer and shoemaker Johann Hinrich Suck lived here with his family. He was born there in 1845 and was the mayor of the village of Glinde from 1894 to 1923. As "mayor", "ole Suck" enjoyed great respect among the population because he was always available to help with any problems.
