Connected to the grid in 1875, it was the first drinking water plant in Dresden. It was sold in October 2013 and is currently (2017) extensively renovated. With a price per square meter of around 4,500 euros, the planned condominiums in the Saloppe are the most expensive that Dresden's real estate market currently has to offer.
Anyone who managed to go to the "ornö" exhibition before the renovation was able to secure a last historical look inside in 2012.

The plans for the technical equipment of the former waterworks Saloppe were contributed by the engineer and town planning officer Bernhard Salbach (1833-1894). This commemorative plaque reminds us of that. Later he also equipped the waterworks Tolkewitz, the opening he did not live. After him, the Salbachstraße was named in Dresden-Tolkewitz in 1912.
