As we approached Schillig on our mudflat hike from the island of Minsener Oog, we heard it chatter and beep. Because even if the breeding grounds of the birds are initially not visible, an immense bird population can be found between the shrubs and the sand dunes. Our guide had exciting information about every single species.

On the dike there is a view over the wide sea on the one hand, and over the country with sheep on the other. Here and there you can also watch the dike rabbits. The flight of the swallows, which daringly demonstrate their fast flight maneuvers along the dyke, happily screeching, has a special attraction.
