The first forced labor camp on the Schlotwiese site was established in 1942. Further barrack camps, including some for prisoners of war, followed. The camps on Schlotwiese were also affected by the air raids on Stuttgart. There were fatalities, and some of the barracks were destroyed. At the end of the war, the inmates were liberated, but the camps continued to be used. Until 1967, they housed displaced persons, foreigners, stateless persons, refugees, and expellees.

Since 2018, a memorial has commemorated the camp's inmates.

- why does a commercial provider park a public commemorative stele in such a way?

- why are the parts not facing each other, on the free surfaces?

- Does it have to be that way?

- and why does Stuttgart and its “watchful eye”, the regulatory office, tacitly tolerate this at all?
