The retention basin Schrote (local name also: Schrotestau) serves today the flood protection of the city Magdeburg, particularly of the local part Diesdorfund is located between the places Niederndodeleben and Magdeburg at the western boundary of the city area of Magdeburg. Dammed the shot in high water. The building was once designed as irrigation water reservoir for agriculture with a permanent storage volume of approx. 10,000 m³. This use has never happened. The plant is today managed by the dam Saxony-Anhalt.
