@Frank The sign in Nirwana is more of a kind of bypass where you could drive out of the gorge further up when it was still more impenetrable down below. But due to the felled trees above, this variant is of course also obsolete.

This "impenetrable" was almost cooler than the trail itself. I love it when you "somehow" have to fight your way through the thicket, which is usually the anticipation when you set off again for the Franconian Forest, river crossings, Bottomless bridges, etc. etc...
