Ötzibike: 048 MARZONER ALM WITH LUPO TRAILoetzi-bike-academy.com/de/vinschgau-meran/gps-touren/mtb-touren/048-marzoner-alm-mit-lupo-trail-62Course: Shuttle to the hamlet Freiberg - Uphill Marzoner Alm - Bike Highline Merano - Lupo Trail NaturnsFrom the bike shuttle we drive to the hamlet Freiberg. The first few meters we cycle to the parking saw, an old Brettersäge on 1,480 vertical meters. From here we drive the short distance to the Marzoner Alm, one of the lowest mountain pastures in South Tyrol. Strengthened, we follow the Bike Highline Meran to the entry into the Lupo Trail. Large parts of the contour line are simple forest roads, waiting for us a technically demanding section - the path leads on gravel over some exposed areas. Below the parking Schartegg we have reached the entrance of Lupo and Fontana Trail. Both are well signposted. Technically savvy drivers branch off to the Fontana Trail (S3) after the first part of the journey, but the Lupo Trail (S1) is less demanding. "In bocca al lupo", one wishes oneself in Italian neck and leg break. The trail is littered with loose stones, but still fluid to drive and even for beginners feasible. Beware at the intersections with the road! On wide 4.5 kilometers, it's now through the forest and in the lower part of the brakes are once again required - after all, there are 730 vertical meters to the finish line at Tabland. Let's roll it out on the way back to Naturns, past the apple orchards - a scenically worthy conclusion!
