I am slightly apprehensive about this trail but my sister and will follow your trail next month, July 2023. It will be very hot but that's the only time we can visit. If you have any tips, please let me know. We hope to take this trail in the afternoon after 3.30pm. Hopefully we can get a 4WD . We are…
Dear Meltem, July and August are the hottest months in Jordan. I would suggest to start as early as possible but the 4WD shuttle that you can take from Little Petra starts around 7.30 or 8 am. Also not clear at what time the last time will run. Maybe around 3 pm. The times can change day by day here…
thanks Jolanda for your insightful response. The reason was to split the Petra visit into two portions. We'll stay overnight at Petra so I thought it would be good to split onto two days and spend a whole day under the blazing sun. The idea is to go to the monastery as late as possible and do the Treasury…
I would start both days early in the morning, as in the morning it will be more cool than in the afternoon. And I would go the first day in from the main entrance, to see the Treasury the first time when you walk through the Siq. Be there at 6 am. And leave Petra round 1 or 2 pm to avoid the biggest…
thank you for the info. I will check out the Petra museum. Thanks for the weather map. Looks like Petra is relatively cooler than Aqaba. currently there is 10 C difference.
Hello, I was meaning to write earlier but the work got in the way. I will start with one word first. My Jordan trip was fabulous. Much better than I expected and planned.
Petra is one of the New World seven wonders and with that I finally checked off my 6th wonder and one to go.
Thanks for updating me on your experiences! It sounds great! I'm happy it all worked out for you with your back road hike! And that you enjoyed your Jordan journey that much!

I use this website to check the weather yr.no/en/forecast/daily-table/2-246008/Hashemite%20Kingdom%20of%20Jordan/Ma%E2%80%99an/Petra. And add a visit to the Petra museum to your Petra visit. It is for free and adds a lot as inside Petra is not much information.

Indeed, Aqaba is at sea level and Wadi Musa|Petra is around 1000/1100 meters. That makes big part of the temperature difference.
Hi Meltem, did you finally did this hike? If so, how did you like it?
