Out of the city, into the Gravel fun! Only a few kilometers outside Salzburg lies the densely forested Högl, a small mountain range lying in neighboring Bavaria. This offers a good mix of gravel and asphalt roads as well as short trail passages, making it ideal for gravel cruising near the city. The tour starts comfortably and runs downstream to the Saalachspitz, where the Saalach flows into the Salzach. From there you follow the river Saalach upstream - alternating on asphalt and gravel. A narrow bridge leads you to the neighboring Bavaria and after a few kilometers to the edge of the forest from Högl.As soon as you have covered the first 170 meters of altitude on asphalt, pure Gravel amusement starts: beautiful forest roads in the forest, crisp climbs, short descents, (easy) trail passages and impressive mountain panoramas. You pass three pastures or restaurants: Johannishögl, Neubichler Alm and Stroblalm. The latter is an ideal spot for a short stop and also marks the vertex - from now on it goes downhill! After this descent, it goes back over the Saalach and over short gravel passages and a small cross-country trail on to Marzoll. There you follow the cycle path to Salzburg, which after a few kilometers branches off and leads you over a wavy and beautiful Gravel section to Fürstenbrunn. From there it alternates on gravel and asphalt back to Salzburg. An ideal Feierabendrunde.
