A beautiful tour with lots of forest, water, original nature and views.
The tour can be easily reached by train. Starting point is the railway station Altenau at Saulgrub and destination is Saulgrub train station.
Quick you have left the small village Altenau and runs the first 2.5 km across meadows and fields with wonderful views and almost total silence.
Then it goes into the forest with the first steps. Good footwear and sure-footedness are highly recommended, as it can be very slippery due to the damp ground. On the whole tour you do not have to be free from giddiness.
At waypoint 4km you reach the bridge over the river Ammer and the hydroelectric power station. There in front of the gate is on the left a Kneipp arm basin with constant inflow of water from a spring. The water is directly drinkable from the tap.
At the bridge it also goes to the Scheibum. At the very back the short cemented path has unfortunately broken off along the wall. Beware of flood!
The Schleierfälle is built at km 7.2. Please note this is a nature reserve and the falls must not be entered, otherwise all over centuries deposited lime (tuff layers) and mosses will be destroyed. From the side and from the riverbed can still make very good photos without the Schleierfälle must suffer.
The path continues through the forest with many steps up and down. The Soiernmühle is not managed.
For the last time, it goes steeply uphill and at the top opens a wide landscape with goats and Irish cattle. One last time out of the forest along the trail to Saulgrub. There you can, for example, stop off at the country inn "Zum bavrischen Paradies" which, in contrast to other guesthouses, is open during the week during the week.
