Directly at Salzburg Cathedral, the beautiful bike tour goes to Eugendorf. From here you cycle from the city center to the Salzach and cross it on the Müllner jetty, from which you have a unique view of the old town with the fortress Hohensalzburg. You follow the shore a bit to the north and turn at Itzling finally on the Ischlerbahntrasse. The route of the narrow-gauge railway once connected the city of Salzburg with the town of Bad Ischl in the Salzkammergut and became famous because its majesty Emperor Franz Joseph I used it to get into his summer residence. From 1894 on this route a railway traveled for more than sixty years along green meadows, crystal-clear lakes and imposing mountains. After dismantling the train, this picturesque route was opened fortunately for cyclists and pedestrians, connecting the Mozart city Salzburg with Eugendorf.Once in Eugendorf, you can take a long break during which you visit the church and stop in a cozy café or restaurant. Then you drive rested and freshly fortified on the same route back to Salzburg.
