From Herxheim am Berg you start going south. Hilly vineyards and ripe grapes accompany you on your way today. At this stage, you will first wander the plains without climbing steep slopes before climbing the 493-meter-high Peterskopf. Your destination is the spa town of Bad Dürkheim, from where you can start your journey home. The first highlight of this stage awaits you after about two kilometers. The Freinberger Oschelskopf is a striking stone sculpture, which is a popular destination of the locals.Continue through the romantic landscape of the Lainingerland along the German Wine Route. At Kallstadt, you pass an interesting archaeological site: The Roman winery Weilberg invites you to a journey through time. The remains of the stately villa were uncovered in 1981 and are well worth a visit. From the vineyards it goes into the forest. Curved trails lead you past ancient trees and moss-covered rocks. Before you climb the Peterskopf, you can take a break at the hut on the Weilach. It is farmed on weekends and holidays, otherwise you can rest on the benches in the garden. At the top of the Peterskopf, the impressive Bismarck tower awaits you. The 36-meter high tower is made of red sandstone and was built in honor of Otto von Bismarck. From the viewing platform, a breathtaking view of the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain opens up to Mannheim. From Peterskopf you can reach down quiet forest paths down to Bad Dürkheim. Before you reach the train station, you have the opportunity to visit the beautiful spa park. On the one and a half hour drive back to Frankfurt, you can once again review your varied hike.
