Just over an hour from Munich lies the gorgeous Kochelsee. In the so-called Two Lakes Land, water and mountains meet and form a varied landscape. Unknown as the near Tegernsee and therefore it is much quieter and more relaxed on the Kochelsee. Here you can leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy the Bavarian Alpine foothills. The first stage of this two-day round trip leads from the station Kochel over wide pastures and along streams to the Tutzinger hut. After an overnight stay in one of the cozy rooms you will hike on the second day over the easy Jachenausteig back to the starting point in Kochel am See.Without changing you drive in just over an hour from Munich to Kochel (bahn.de). Before leaving the village to the east, make a detour to the lake. Close to the station, the Loisach flows into the Kochelsee. There, a reed-covered and species-rich marshland has developed at the river mouth. From the shore it goes over beautiful alpine meadows, on which the cows graze comfortably, steadily uphill.Soon you will cross the Pessenbach, where you can fill up your drinking bottle with clear spring water. On the flank of Dachsenberg you walk to Kohlsattalm, where benches invite you to take a break. Then we lead you to the Lainbach waterfall, which falls down rocks in a gorge. Following the course of the stream, you reach the Eibelsfleck Alm through the forest. From the open, lush meadow you have a great view of the surrounding peaks like the Eibelskopf. In a zig-zag, you hike the last part of today's stage up to the Tutzinger Hütte. On the sun terrace overlooking the imposing Benediktenwand you can end the day. Since the hut is located on the Maximiliansweg and the dream path Munich-Venice, you should reserve your sleeping space in advance.
