AlpenX Tag 1
Alu Minautix and Enrico Fischer went mountain biking.
July 29, 2019
The rental car went directly to Garmisch-Partenkirchen from the 'Holsteinische Schweiz' high altitude training camp (Baltic Sea). The equipment and the wheels were in the back of the station wagon. There are two of us on the Albrecht route. Neither of us have Alpine experience. We have everything we know from Andreas Albrecht's roadbook and from a few conversations with other AlpenX finishers. But, the two of us are a well-coordinated team, as we often travel together in the Ore Mountains. There we also tested and optimized all of our equipment several times. We drive after Andreas' GPX files and have maps and printouts of the road book with us. Everything should fit.During the journey, the weather situation became increasingly worrying, the closer we got to our destination. We already passed the heaviest rainy areas before Munich, what should that be?Once in Garmisch, the rain eased somewhat. The surrounding mountains were completely covered by the rising fog. If anything, there was only a vague idea. The hotel was found quickly and the car unloaded. The bikes were allowed to be parked in the locked ski room. The rooms were really great. The Hotel Alpengruß is a bed and breakfast hotel and only offers breakfast. At the reception there was a well-stocked fridge with a trusted cash register. We were able to discuss our first day of the tour relaxed the evening before.First of all, we started looking for a proper pork knuckle.Dinner in the inn 'zur Linde', top. After dinner, the rental car was filled up, handed over and then walked back to the hotel. The rain got stronger again, but no problem with rain clothes.Another beer from the fridgeand then - good night.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *First tour day:Tour variant: Albrecht route Day 1 main routeHeight gain according to Wahoo Elemnt: 1027mBavarian Prealps> Wetterstein Mountains> Lechtal Alps / Ötztal AlpsA first look out of the window, it drizzles only slightly. Well so far. But what is peeling out of the fog in places impresses me. Boah, what mountains! I have a slight doubt that I am really well prepared. After a hearty breakfast, it starts. Select GPX file, check bikes, helmet and backpack on and off.In the first hours the sky cleared slowly, the temperatures had been very pleasant since morning. We routinely run the few kilometers, take a few photo breaks and stop for a lunch break in the small village of Strad. We arrive in Landeck early and quickly find the Hotel Mozart. The bikes disappeared in the bike garage and the jerseys in the laundry service. After a short shower we explore the hotel. We take a slice of apple pie and a cup of coffee on the terrace. The view is great here too. Then we plunge into the hotel's swimming pool and let ourselves dry on the sun loungers. Already there is the 3 course dinner and to end we explore a little Landeck. The second day will certainly not be that easy, that's why it's early to bed.continue to the next tour day: komoot.de/tour/82484378
beautiful placeholder !!!
they had told us on our tour, if there is bad weather to the north, then it is very good south - you just can not see the Zugspitze ...However, at that time we really only had beautiful weather

We also had a good luck with the weather. It could have been a lot worse, at least the rainy weather was a really bad entry. On the tour, the weather was almost always great, except for the morning in Switzerland, the ascent to the Fimber Pass. There I actually tried my waterproof socks the first and only time.
