You can start this 18-kilometer stage with a visit to Einsiedeln Abbey. The generous complex is considered the most important baroque building in Switzerland and is known beyond the country's borders because of the figure of the Black Madonna. The pompous and detailed interior of St. Mary's Church is breathtaking.Following the creek Alp, you walk parallel to the village street. The mountains that surround you become higher and higher. Over the Haggenegg this section leads through the beautiful high valley of the Alp. The two peaks of the Little and Big Myths, 1,811 meters and 1,899 meters high, you always have in view. The contemplative town of Schwyz could have sprung from a hiking guide: manorial houses stand on the cobbled main square and behind it rises an impressive alpine panorama. During the peak season, it is advisable to book your accommodation in advance, as Schwyz is a small town.
