The three-country trekking circuit "Peaks of the Balkans" leads through Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. From Dobërdol, an original village in the middle of untouched mountains, you can climb the highest mountain in Kosov. The 2165 m high Gjeravica can be conquered on well marked trails in a day tour.We start the tour early in the morning and leave the Albanian Dobërdol in an easterly direction. Surrounded by extensive meadows, a stream and isolated huts by mountain farmers, the slope along the path increases steadily. The cattle tracks of the free-range cattle, which lead along beautiful paths to the border ridge, also provide good orientation. At a pass height of 2270 m you hike unnoticed over a green border into Kosovo. Along the slope, we roam wild Kosovo without noticeable vertical meters. After about a kilometer we reach Liqeni Zemer, which warmly welcomes us with crystal clear water. After a short breather, the climb to Gjeravica begins. The path up to the summit partly runs between rocks, with a number of vertical meters being mastered. The last kilometer of the summit is initiated by a wonderful meadow ridge and ends in a path surrounded by rugged silicate rock. On the small summit plateau, fluttering, wind-torn country flags of Kosovo and the Albanian double-headed eagle greet you. With an all-round view we can see the vastness of the Prokletije massif and peek deep into Kosovo. On the way back we explore the wonderful flora and fauna again in known ways and let them work on us from a different perspective. Back in Dobërdol we are greeted by a warm welcome from our host family, from whom you should see friendliness and satisfaction, despite difficult circumstances. In summary, a wonderful day tour in the middle of intact nature, where you can easily forget your everyday life.
