If you live in Sheffield or go on vacation, you're in luck because there are so many mountain bike trails just outside the city. This tour is a lot of fun and brings you a car-free day: By train you drive out of town, on the bike and on great trails back. This tour is quite a challenge. If it's still not enough for you, you can easily extend it by hanging on some nice bows. There are plenty of trails here - for example around the Ladybower Dam. We can highly recommend the driveway up to the Derwent Moor and especially the following descents. So the route starts at the station in Hope. A side road leads you to a riding trail on Win Hill. On the mountain ridge, a great single trail awaits you, leading to a rocky downhill spewing you down on Snake Road. You pass the legendary "Potatoe Alley", which got its name due to the size and shape of the distinctive rocks. Now it is very gentle uphill and it is quite possible that a lot of curious sheep watching the pedaling. The reward for this climb comes in the form of the "Hagg Farm" downhill, a flowing descent that leads you down to the Ladybower Dam. The crisp climb across the road below the Bamford Edge is immediately rewarded with a fantastic view. Now you drive along the dam and over its dam - time to breathe in peace and to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the water. And to gather strength for the last, slightly longer climb up the Stanage Plantation to the Redmire Reservoir. Once at the top, a selection of beautiful runs back to Sheffield awaits you.Tip:
To plan the train connection from Sheffield to Hope, it's best to go to thetrainline.com. The journey takes less than half an hour and costs about 7 euros.
