The more than 100 kilometers long round through the northern Recknitztal is a wonderful nature experience along the glacial valley on the border between Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania. Enjoy the moorland, explore small villages and discover monuments of the brick Gothic. The round can also be done well in two stages. The harbor town of Ribnitz-Damgarten is ideally suited as a stopover with several overnight accommodations. In addition, the place is connected to the railway. The circuit begins in Ticino, which you can reach by train from Rostock in half an hour. Around Ticino you will find many nature reserves and fens. A large moor is located near Tribsees. The small place is suitable for a small break. In the tranquil center you will find many interesting buildings of the brick Gothic, such as the Thomaskirche or the two city gates.Continue on small roads through the glacial valley of the Recknitz. The area was formed in the last ice age and is partially below sea level. The lower reaches of the Recknitz were spared from straightening, so you can immerse yourself in a unique natural and Torflandschaft. After about 60 kilometers you cross the Recknitz and thus the historical border between Pomerania and Mecklenburg. Shortly thereafter, right on the Bodden, lies Ribnitz-Damgarten. There you will find next to the beautiful harbor promenade a small spa and an amber museum. On the way back to Ticino you drive on the Mecklenburg side of the Lower Recknitztal. In addition to unique nature, there is also the exciting bird park in Marlow or the traditional salt museum in Bad Sülze to discover.
