Pentecost (Pfingsten) is the day for the cycling 11 city tour in my loved Friesland. In one day about 15000 cyclists ride 240km along the 11 cities of Friesland. The original is on skates off course, but this is the 2nd most popular version. So I decided to do the alternative. And what would be a better destination than the Plansee, where the ‘alternative 11 cities tour’ on ice was always held in the many winters without ice in the Netherlands. I found a tour on gpstour.info . Which was the basis of the part until the Austrian border.

Chapeau !! Great performance ^^
The funny thing is that during a normal 100k ride you get tired at the end and here you feel fit because you’re not even half way....but I did take a coffee break. Then further down south towards the Ammergauer Alpen. 2 small sections of gravel which surprised me a bit and made me worried about my tires but all went well. After Oberammergau it got more and more hilly. Near Linderhof I took the beautiful gravel street which is called the Elmaustraßl. The narrow part of the path that is ridden a lot is no problem, but passing mountain bikers through the loose gravel was a bit of a challenge as well as the steep downhill. This was not good for the average speed...
Then a small part on the 23 Bundesstraße to the border with always a good view on the beautiful alps. I came along Lermoos, Ehrwald and Biberwier, which according to my colleagues are called Eerdam, Leerdam and Biberdam by the locals because of the large amount of dutch skiers. Some portions here were on the Bundesstraße again, which frightens me a bit. From Reutte I went up to the Plansee. Here I felt the duration of the tour started taking its toll.the lake is beautiful and my memories went back to the tv broadcasts in the 90’s of skaters doing 200k races between the alps. Too bad it is not maintained for skating in winter anymore... I planned to have lunch there, but each restaurant had so many motorcyclists on the terrace that I decided to do the climb out of The Valley back into Germany. There was a quiet restaurant with very pleasant servants and great home made rabarberkuchen! From there it was more or less downhill to Garmisch for the final of the ride. I took the climb up to the Eibsee. I crawled up there after my last energy gel. My energy was gone. Up there were extremely many tourists from all over the world enjoying the splendid view. I took the picture and went down to Garmisch to take the train.my fellow travelers must have wondered why I smelled so bad and I tried to hide my cramps. Then the last 12 km was from the Hauptbahnhof home. I felt recovered already.....
WOW, great respect! Good job!
Great performance !!!
