The beautiful, family-friendly "Alp Birehubel" circular route starts at the post bus stop "Gurnigel, Gantrischhütte". From here you hike past lush mountain meadows and idyllic woodland pastures to the Upper Gantrisch Hut. Then it goes gently downhill to the picturesque Gantrischseeli. Surrounded by green meadows and the high Bernese Prealps, the small lake is located in a vast moor area. On the shore you can take a relaxing break and enjoy the unique moment in nature.Maybe you'll meet some of the animals of the Alp Bire, like goats or cows, and the 13-year-old Adrian Mäder, who guards her during the summer holidays. The animals are allowed to move freely around the alp and enjoy their freedom here. If possible, they are rounded up once a day for milking. But sometimes they stay in such steep terrain that even Adrian and his crab dogs can not reach them. From the lake, after your idyllic break, you will hike a few meters up to the Alp, where the Mäder family awaits you. At the large alpine table in front of the hut, they serve you fresh goat cheese, which Adrian and his mother made themselves. After you have strengthened and enjoyed the view of the striking Gantrisch, you wander relaxed back down to the starting point.
