The Turtmannhütte is like a home on the mountain: As a hiker or mountaineer, you are warmly welcomed by the innkeepers Magdalena and Fredy Tscherrig, and are well looked after. Just join us on our hike, say hello to the two, and experience the fascination of simplicity that the two treasure so much.At the parking lot Vorder Sänntum the tour starts. From here you hike up through the untouched Turtmanntal. After a few steps, you have already reached the tree line and continue to climb surrounded by lush green mountain slopes and craggy rocks. Somewhat exhausted and sweaty, but happy you finally arrive at the Turtmannhütte. Here you can first order a cool drink and the incomparable view of the Turtmann Glacier, the
Bishorn, the Barrwand and the Diablon massif. Magdalena's legendary, homemade Black Forest cake or a Valais plate will quickly get you back on your feet.
Rested and freshly fortified you can then start the descent on the Steinmännliweg. You will come very close to the Turtmann Glacier and enjoy a fantastic view of the eternal ice. Past the Turtmannsee you follow the picturesque valley to the starting point, the parking lot Vorder Sänntum. If you want to spend more time with Magdalena and Fredy, you can also stay overnight at the Turtmannhütte and, for example, take a summit tour to the Barrhorn. That's how you experience the morning in the hut - Fredy's favorite time. Then all hikers are full of enthusiasm and anticipation for their tours - and so are you. And if you do not believe in the tour alone, Fredy can accompany you. He is a mountain guide and likes to show his guests the alpine mountains around the hut. With him you can also climb the 4,153 meter high Bishorn or take a glacier tour.
