Among the high altitude hikes in Switzerland, this is one of the classics: the tightrope walk from Monte Lema to Monte Tamaro. On the way you will enjoy an unbeatable panorama that stretches from the Leventina via the surrounding valleys to the Valais Alps to the west and the Grisons Alps to the east. The hike starts at the summit station of Monte Lema. From here you have a breathtaking view of Lake Lugano on one side and Lake Maggiore on the other side. As you wander over the ridge near the Swiss-Italian border, you have an incredible view all the time. There are two ascents for you: the climbs to Monte Gradiccioli and Monte Tamaro.A well-deserved break can be made on the Capanna Tamaro below the summit of the same name. Here you can indulge in home-made specialties while enjoying the view from the cozy sun terrace. Strengthened, you then hike to Alpe Foppa, the destination of the tour. From here a lift takes you to the valley.Tip: In summer, a shuttle bus between the two base stations, so you can always go back to the starting point, no matter in which direction you go the hike.
