On this circular walk at the foot of the Basodino glacier, you will get an insight into a unique region formed by glaciers. From the Robiei mountain station, you will hike through an unreal mountain landscape, where ice has left its mark on various geological eras. From the last village of the Bavona valley you can reach the Robiei station by cable car. From here you walk to Zöttsee. The glacier trail starts at the dam wall and leads you to the foot of the glacier. This extends below the 3,273 meter high Basodino summit over about two square kilometers. You wander through a vast meadowland, which is upstream of the glacier and has a unique ecosystem. Here numerous protected animal and plant species have found their safe home.Along the glacier path, you can discover moraines, boulders, karsts and between the furrows and on flat surfaces with some humus the typical pioneer vegetation. If you are lucky, you may also see marmots, chamois, ibex, and countless other species on their way back to the starting point.
