Great hiking trails, green alpine meadows and mountains as far as the eye can see - this almost 14-kilometer hike takes you from the Sonnenalpe Nassfeld pass to the Egger Alm. You're on a section of the Karnischer Höhenweg trail and can test whether you're just over 150 kilometers long Fernwanderweg maybe still want to run completely. Because the landscape will convince you - promised.Right at the beginning you leave a large part of the 520 vertical meters behind you. After just under three kilometers you will be rewarded with a magnificent panorama and can let your gaze wander over the gray cliffs of the Gartnerkofel. For the next few kilometers, you will hike downhill on a former military and forest road and make a detour to Italy at the Stutenbodenalm. Before you cross the border to Austria again, the path climbs a bit on a short distance. On the last section to the Egger Alm you can enjoy the unique landscape of the Nassfeld to the fullest. Keep your eyes peeled for a botanical rarity in the region: the Wulfenia, also called the blue flower of Carinthia. It is strictly protected and only grows here. Its flowering time is depending on the weather from mid-June to early July.Soon you have reached your goal of the day and can enjoy it in the Egger Alm with home-made cheese and regional food.
