This mountain hike leads you to the perfect starting point for exciting summit tours at the Allgäu Hauptkaumm: the Waltenberger Haus. From Birgsau you hike along forest trails along the Stillach to Einödsbach, the southernmost village in Germany. Here begins the ascent through the Bacherloch, a narrow high mountain valley with fantastic views of the Allgäu main ridge.The path meanders steadily and becomes steeper and more alpine with each step. Shortly below the hut a small adventurous passage awaits you: a narrow path leads directly along the rock face and over metal walkways - luckily the way is covered by wire rope insurance. Only a little later you finally reach your destination, the Waltenberger Haus.Tip: The Waltenberger Haus is perfect as a gateway to the famous Heilbronner Weg, which leads on kicks, ladders and jetties on the Allgäu main ridge. Depending on which direction you choose, you can either hike to the Rappenseehütte or the Kemptner Hütte.
