The Lech begins its journey to the Danube on the picturesque Lake Formarin and here also the 125 kilometer long Lechweg starts. On this almost 14-kilometer hike, you'll get to know the first leg of the long-distance hiking trail. You wander through one of the last wild river landscapes in Europe and are accompanied on your way constantly by the bubbling of the Lech.Past the Formarinalpe and the Capricorn Monument, you will walk over green alpine meadows, framed by dark conifers and bright mountain ridges. After about nine kilometers you walk past the Gasthaus Älpele, perfect for a break in the beautiful countryside.The rocky Lechuferweg leads you to the fish pond in Zug and from there along the shore to the village of Lech. Since you accompany the river on this journey a bit along its journey, you always hike slightly downhill.Along the way you come to great resting places over. You can find several rest stops along the route, if you do not want to carry any food yourself. In Lech there are also many restaurants for completing your hiking day.To the starting point you come from the post office in Lech with the hiking bus. In the warm months, the bus commutes several times daily up to Formarinsee.
