At every turn you will be accompanied on this tour by the view of Austria's highest mountain. On the top there are wonderful views and views over the Virgen valley to the glaciers of the Venediger group, which makes the tour particularly attractive. Already at the top station of the Goldriedbahn, the Grossglockner, at 3,798 meters the highest mountain in Austria, seems close enough to touch. Along the panoramic path between Kals-Matreier-Törl and the top station Blauspitz, panels explain the fauna and flora in the high mountains. At the Gasthaus Glocknerblick, the herb and flower path informs about the peculiarity of the Alpine vegetation. In Matrei you take the Goldried mountain railway and drive up to the mountain station Goldried. Here begins the hike. At the beginning, you follow the path to Kals-Matreier-Törl and walk barely noticeably uphill. At 2,204 meters you reach the Kals-Matreier-Törl, where the snack station offers a rest. Strengthened it goes from here on the climb direction "Panorama Restaurant Blauspitz". In practically constant height you walk comfortably over fragrant meadows on the Glockner. Later, the route gently climbs up until you reach the top station Blauspitz with the panorama restaurant Blauspitz. Here you can take another well-deserved break. Then it's just downhill. On a trail you walk down the ski area in serpentines. Passing the "Bergrestaurant Glocknerblick" you continue downhill past the middle station of the chairlift and on to Kals to the National Park information point in the Glocknerhaus at the parish church, where the hike ends.To the starting point back to Matrei you arrive with the Postbus. The journey takes about 35 minutes.
