The hike has a little more than 1,300 vertical meters in the ascent, but you will be rewarded along the round trip with magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Highlight of the round is the Zireiner lake: It is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol and is idyllically situated in a basin. From there you have a fantastic view of the Rofanstock with the mighty Rofanturm as an eye-catcher. The Berghaus Sonnwendjoch with a fantastic view over the Inn valley invites you towards the end of the tour to stop before finally going back to the valley to Kramsach. From the parking lot of Sonnwendjochbahn (not in operation) you follow the path to the junction Kaltwasserbründl and continue to the middle station of the lift. From there, the route takes you below the lift route to the mountain station. From Berghaus Sonnwendjoch you hike straight up to the Rosskogel saddle and pass the Rosskogel in a northerly direction. Via the Rosswies you go downhill and reach the Zireiner See. After the climb at the western end of the lake, there is a fork in the road, here you turn left and continue towards Zireiner Alm. Now it is a short distance downhill and then via a path to Bayreuther Hütte and Bergalm. Here you can take a long break and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains and the valley as you fortify yourself with delicious food. With new forces, it goes from here back down to the lift car park in Kramsach, the starting point of the hike.
