The Aufseß is a tributary of the Wiesent, which flows through a picturesque valley, until it finally opens at Doos in the Wiesent. Right here begins and ends this 30-kilometer, relatively flat tour. For about 14 kilometers you follow the small river on picturesque trails and trails that wind through the idyllic Aulandschaft the Aufseß. Past impressive cliffs, picturesque ponds and cozy benches you finally come to Aufseß, the small town that - like the river - was once named after the noble family of Aufseß, whose descendants still inhabit the two castles Unteraufseß and Oberaufseß.After you have crossed the small water, you leave the flood plain and the track gets a bit hilly. Now you drive up and down over beautiful forest and meadow trails and past various breweries that invite you to take a rest. A nice descent through the "Katzengraben" brings you back to Aufseß. As on the way out, you follow the river, only in the opposite direction, until you finally reach its mouth in the Wiesent, where this beautiful tour is over. The easiest way to get to the starting point of the tour is by car. The journey by public transport is possible, but a bit more complicated. By bus and train you can take you to Muggendorf, from there you cycle about two kilometers to the start of the route.
