Anyone who would like to mountain biking in the Franconian Switzerland and has lodgings in Heiligenstadt, has already done everything right: Because around the market town in the romantic Leinleitertal there are several beautiful tours, all of which are designed as circular courses and can even be combined with each other. If you want to know it right, you can biking 128 kilometers and 2,500 vertical meters in one go here!On this tour you go it a little quieter. With more than 43 kilometers and almost 1,000 vertical meters, but also this exit is a quite demanding pleasure. But you can be sure that you will be royally rewarded on the way. With breathtaking views, with great trails and cozy stop-off in the beer cellars of the region, where you can not only taste home-brewed beer specialties, but also with delicious, regional delicacies. At the turning point of the tour, you can follow the footsteps of jeans in Buttenheim by visiting the birthplace of Levi Strauss. Allow enough time to enjoy all these great highlights in peace. Incidentally, you can shorten the tour at various points quite uncomplicated and tinker so from a trip of several hours a short indulgence round.Since Heiligenstadt has no train connection, it is best to travel by car. The community is easily accessible via the A73 or the A70. If you prefer to come by train, you can go to Buttenheim train station and just board the circuit at the southern turning point. After Buttenheim there are very good connections, for example with the regional express of Nuremberg.

.... the tour consists of 95% wide forest roads, agricultural roads or asphalt. Trail is only about 800m. Technical challenges only exist for total beginners. In theory, the tour can also be done with a trekking bike. There are a number of scenic points. But this has nothing to do with a demanding mountain bike tour and beautiful trails. The Rennsteig or the Erzgebirge have much more to offer.

Can unfortunately confirm Thomas's comment. The tour is scenic and varied, but has nothing to offer in terms of driving technique. The single trail share is 0, the vertical meters are destroyed downhill on gravel or asphalt.Overall, I find the description of the tour misleading, more is promised than is offered.
