The Isartrails are not an insider tip - but no less beautiful when it comes to running off the fixed ground on narrow, technical trails. But the best thing about the Isartrails is that they also accompany the river in the middle of the city and allow you to take a short or longer break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The start of this run is at the Max-Joseph-Brücke, which is a stone's throw from the Englischer Garten. From here you follow the banks of the Isar to the north and always have the possibility to vary your run a little over different cross-connections. At the impressive Isarwehr Unterföhring, where you can stop for a moment, you switch over to the Isar island Oberföhring, which separates the river from the Isar canal. Surrounded by water you follow the trail until the turning point of the run. In a loop you walk around the Poschinger Weiher and then leave the A99 on the right, before you cross the Isar and run back on the other bank. Just before you reach the starting point of the route, you can, if you feel like it, turn into the English Garden and let the day end comfortably and sociably. The start and finish of this run are located northeast of Munich city center and are easily accessible by public transport. If you prefer to take the S-Bahn, you best drive to the university and extend the route for a short run across the English Garden.
