Innsbruck is simply a great place for all sports-crazy outdoor fans. You are just in the middle of the pulsating Alpine capital, a little later you are in the beautiful nature of the Alps - around you nothing but breathtaking views. This is exactly what you can experience on this approximately 15-kilometer run, which takes you from the center of Innsbruck to the foot of the Nordkette and brings you to Völs in a varied up and down almost asphalt-free.You start in the beautiful old town of Innsbruck and walk first along the Inn for a little while before you reach the Zoo over the rather steep Wilhelm-Greil-Weg your "travel height" reach. Most of the vertical meters you earn on this route are collected over the first four kilometers. When you've left the first climb, you're walking relaxed on the Stangensteig Trail, which is made for running. Completely asphalt-free and with great views of the city and the Inn Valley, you can now enjoy the beautiful Tyrolean mountains for a few miles, until you can see the buzzing bustle of the Innsbruck airport down in the valley. Then the route bends towards the valley - you cross the Inn, walk past the end of the runway, pass under the A12 and reach your destination, the station of Völs. From here, the S-Bahn (line S1 or S2) takes you in just eight minutes back to Innsbruck Central Station.Of course, this route also works in the opposite direction. If you prefer to end the day quite relaxed in the old town of Innsbruck, just take the train to Völs and start your run from there.
