You like caves? Then a very special highlight awaits you on this hike: the 644-meter long women's wall cave. But even if the darkness is not for you, this 13-kilometer tour will convince you. It starts at the base station Präbichl. After 2.5 kilometers, the short and crisp climb begins with a view of the Leobner Wall, a striking rock ridge.Continue on the northern slopes of the Griesmauer to the eastern entrance of the Frauenmauerhöhle. The crossing of the cave takes about 45 minutes. Without a local guide you should not go this way. Cave guides are available in high season on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays ready for the crossing. You can also wander the cave if you have three quarters of an hour of darkness too much.Along the Gsollhütte and the Gsollbach along you come to your destination, the Gsollkehre on the forest road. There you will see a bus stop. With the line 820 you come back in a few minutes for 2.40 euros back to the starting point. You can check the departure times here: verkehrsauskunft.verbundlinie.at.Nearby you will find the Leopoldsteinersee, a natural jewel with crystal clear spring water. You can rent a boat and enjoy the panoramic view from the middle of the lake. On the shore you will find a restaurant. You can read more about the leisure facilities on the lake here: leopoldsteinersee.at.On the way to the lake you come through the village iron ore - also worth a stop. Here you can visit the largest and most modern opencast mine in Central Europe, the most important ore deposit in the Alps. Once a year, the Erzbergrodeo takes place here, the hardest enduro race in the world. More about the tours and prices can be found here: abenteuer-erzberg.at. In the Erzbergbräu you can then moisten the dusty Kehler with home-brewed beer again. An overview of the shower range is listed here: mountironbruery.com.
