This magnificent day will make you discover the Alpilles and will take you into the heart of the Lubéron massif. Your final destination tonight is Apt, the main town in this region of Provence. The town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, located at the very beginning of the route, has many assets. Its market is famous, and if you pass by there on a Wednesday or Saturday morning (market days), take the opportunity to do some shopping for a possible picnic. The outskirts of the city are just as remarkable with the monastery of Saint-Paul, where the famous painter Vincent Van-Gogh stayed. He was very prolific during his stay. The nearby archaeological site of Glanum can also be visited and is worth a look. It's not every day that you get the chance to walk the streets of an ancient city! The route then passes through downtown Cavaillon, known for its succulent melons. You will then take a very pleasant straight cycle path that follows the route of the old railway. You will ride in this valley, accompanied on your right by the Lubéron massif and on your left by that of the Vaucluse mountains.Close to this magnificent cycle route, you will see a very beautiful Neolithic tomb as well as a Roman bridge of great beauty. You will be able to admire the small villages perched on the heights such as Monieux, Gordes, Ménerbes and Lacoste before your arrival in Apt.
