South of Stuttgart stretch wide, hilly forest areas, which are crossed by many streams and small rivers. This includes the Sulzbach, which tends to flood in some years. To prevent the high water levels, a flood retention basin was set up in the densely forested Sulzbachtal, just before the confluence with the Aich. The Sulzbach reservoir is picturesquely situated in a long valley and together with the surrounding forest it attracts hikers to its shores. For you we have put together a small forest hike, where you can discover the forest, the meadow-lined Sulzbachtal and of course the reservoir.Starting point of your hike is the hiking car park Sulzbachstausee, which is located directly on the Aich. A signposted hiking trail leads you directly to the wide dam. From here you have a great view over the sparkling lake, whose water level can vary considerably over the course of a year. From the dam, our tour snakes through the forest and leads you gently uphill towards Sulzbachtal.Once here, you can take a break in the restaurant Sulzbachtal - in the summer also in the cozy beer garden. Then you stroll along wide wildflower meadows along the Sulzbach until it flows into a dense forest. Here he meets the Klingenbach and together they splashing through a tunnel under the Schönaicher Straße to the reservoir. Also for you it goes through the short tunnel and a little later you reach the peaceful lake. Along the lakeshore, you finally hike back to the starting point of your hike.
