Even the Krupps knew how beautiful it is in the hills north of the Essen Baldeneysee. But while one of the most famous families in the Ruhr area settled down comfortably in their Villa Hügel towards the end of the 19th century, you can appreciate a very different feature of the place where the Krupps once recovered: countless narrow trails meander through the Krupp forest and it goes without saying why the villa bears the name "hill". On this challenging ten-kilometer round, a varied up and down with many vertical meters awaits. You start from the regatta grounds at Lake Baldeney, where you will be greeted in advance with a great view over the lake. After a short, shallow passage you cross the railway tracks and you are already in the Krupp forest. From now on it goes up and down - a very demanding running track, but never boring. Again and again you will be rewarded with the best view. Be it on the Baldeneysee or the Villa Hügel - a beautiful place, just outside the Ruhrpott metropolis Essen.Incidentally, you can easily vary the round: A little further east, the trail network continues in the hill park and later in the city forest, so that you could still pack a decent portion in terms of distance and altitude. And if you fancy a relaxed run, you can simply follow the slippery path around Lake Baldeney.
