In the southeast of Dusseldorf is the Eller forest - the oldest nature reserve in the city. Old forest stands and picturesque wet meadows await you, through which narrow trails and cozy paths lead. Right next door, the idyllic waters of the Unterbacher See provide a change. Our route starts on a parking lot in Düsseldorf Eller, where you can easily park your car. Alternatively, the S-Bahn brings you here: The Düsseldorf Eller station is a stone's throw away. Only a few steps and you are in the countryside. About forest and dirt roads, it is now directly in the direction of Unterbacher Lake, which you completely surround. Here you go under the high ropes course Dusseldorf - nice to see how the courses wind high above you through the treetops. When you leave the shore of the lake, you are back in the Eller forest and walk over the seven bridge path. The many ditches and ponds here are a paradise for newts, toads and frogs and with a bit of luck one of the feathered inhabitants of the forest will fly you across the path: Gray herons, hawks or wrens - a total of 41 breeding birds are found in the Eller forest. In the early morning hours the run through the Eller forest is a very special experience. When the wildlife awakes, you can even spot deer and foxes here. It will never be boring on the trails and trails here anyway. Incidentally, if you want to run for more than ten kilometers, the route can be easily extended: If you cross the Rothenbergstraße in the north of Eller Forst, you can continue your run in the picturesque Düsselauen. In the south of the track, on the other hand, it makes sense to add a circumnavigation of the Elbe.
