"Small but mighty" is this short run, which is garnished with many vertical meters and great vantage points and offers you a very demanding program at the gates of Dortmund. You start from the trail parking lot at the Hengsteysee directly on the trails that lead you in tight bends up to the Syberg and thus to the old walls of the Hohensyburg. After this steep warmup program, you can relax on the castle wall and enjoy the beautiful view of the Ruhr valley. It continues: From the castle ruins you walk down narrow trails downhill, until you cross the Hengsteystraße to dive right back into the forest on the other side. Over the trail, which runs along along the steep northern shore of Lake Hengsteysee, you have always a wonderful view of the water. There are some trail variations up here so you can just turn here and there and give your tour a few more meters. After the descent down to the lake, you have the choice: If you follow our route, you will run straight back to the starting point of the tour on the idyllic north shore of the lake. You pass the old Villa Funcke, on the ground floor of which the Café Waldschlösschen invites you for a cozy cooldown coffee on the lake shore. If you prefer to keep pumping, you can also complete the Hengsteysee. Along the shore, there are various paths that you can not miss.
