(Rad-)Wanderin went for a hike.

Today I was on the Zähringer hiking trail. This 75-kilometer long-distance hiking trail connects the three Zähringer towns of Neuenburg am Rhein, Freiburg im Breisgau and St. Peter with one another (neuenburg.de/Startseite/Tourismus/zaehringer+wanderweg.html#id582838).
From the train station in Neuenburg am Rhein I walked to the official starting point of the first stage at the town hall. There I followed the well-marked path through the city and then along the Klemmbach to Müllheim. Instead of through the city center, the tour ran over the vineyards on the Luginsland, from where you had a great view of the Rhine Valley to the Vosges and the Hochblauen. We continued through Niederweiler to Badenweiler, where the path leads below the castle ruins and then through the spa park and the park of the senses, which is well worth seeing. I ran through brightly colored vineyards and in sections through at least as brightly colored deciduous forests, past Britzingen and through Muggardt to Sulzburg. The last section led through the sunny slope of the Kastellberg past dry stone walls with great views. After a look at the Staufen castle ruins and into the Müstertal to Belchen, I reached today's destination, the Staufen Süd train station.
Conclusion: The conception of the Zähringer hiking trail seems to me to be quite ambitious, the first stage is a challenge with almost 30 km. The first section of the trail is mainly on sidewalks and tarred roads; Behind Badenweiler, the tour then leads on easy-to-walk, natural paths through the slopes of the Black Forest foothills. If it is not necessarily a long-distance hiking trail, circular tours through the vineyards near Britzingen or on the Kastellberg are perhaps more recommendable.

Despite all the tar, a great achievement and well described.

    Great performance, nicely illustrated impressions.
I'm just thinking about whether I can experience that with the gravel bike. Dive into the GPX.
For a more hiking feeling, I strongly recommend the Markgräfler Wiiwägli.

    Hello Norbert,
Most of the route should be feasible by bike or it runs on signposted bike and mountain bike paths anyway. There are sure to be small detours in one-way streets and in a few narrower spots.
