Stage 2 on the Saarland Cycle Path starts without any noticeable gradients along the Blies, which winds its way happily through the valley and offers a nice home to one or the other stork family. You cycle mostly on a quiet bike path without any traffic and enjoy the river idyll.Schwarzenacker offers a longer break. In the Roman Museum, you will learn a lot about the past of the region where the Romans once lived. In a reconstructed Roman settlement, many hands-on activities await you, giving you a great idea of what life was like here about 2,000 years ago.Through the forest of Jägersburg you now cycle to the northwest and reach the castle pond, where you can relax and strengthen yourself in one of the rest stops. Rest a while, because a little challenge awaits you afterwards. The route now leads to the Höcherberg, which, at 517 meters, represents the highest point of the Saarpfalz. When you get to the top, you deserve a break in the restaurant that awaits you at the summit. After you have recovered a little, it is worth climbing the lookout tower, which gives you a fantastic view of the Saarland. Then you can look forward to a great descent that brings you closer to the stage goal. For that you leave at the end (at Werschweiler) briefly the official course of the Saarland cycle path. Because in the wonderfully quiet environment, it is difficult to find accommodation. That's why we have a trip to St. Wendel built into the tour. St. Wendel is worth a visit anyway and here you will find plenty of accommodation including a bed + bike hotel, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the Schlossplatz worth seeing. From the train station in St. Wendel there are regional trains, with which you can travel fast and without changing trains to, for example, Saarbrücken.
