Löcknitz & Leckerbissen in Grünheide – S-Bahn Berlin
Hiking Highlight (Segment)
S-Bahn Berlin planned a hike.
October 11, 2021
An extended autumn hike through colorful deciduous forests, along romantic streams and sparkling lakes. The whole thing garnished with crunchy salads, crispy schnitzel or delicious game goulash - sounds like a perfect day in the cooler season! Another bonus point when strolling through the wet meadows and swamps of the Löcknitz Valley in the autumn months: You can safely leave the mosquito spray at home. The S3 S-Bahn line is your feeder into nature. It stops at Erkner station every 20 minutes. You walk across the Flakenfließ, follow the rails for a while and then turn into the lovely valley of the Löcknitz. The small river meanders picturesquely through the wooded landscape. Four stone frogs watch over the valley under a bridge. The wonderful Löcknitztalweg always stays very close to the Löcknitz until you cross it at the level of Chausseestrasse.Along the country road it goes into Grünheide (Mark), where the Heydewirt beckons on the connecting canal between Peetzsee and Werlsee from Wednesday to Sunday with a lot of cosiness and a warm restaurant. From fresh to hearty to sweet and juicy, everything your palate could desire is included. The view of the beautiful Peetzsee is the icing on the cake. The way back takes you north of the Werlsee to Fangschleuse and further past smaller lakes. The Löcknitz is your companion for a short while, then it's only a few steps to Erkner, where you hop back on the train.
