After leaving behind the hills of the Stromberg on the fourth stage on the Neckar, the fifth tour takes you through the Murrtal, the second namesake of the cycle path. Always close to the meandering river you cycle over meadows and through small forest to Backnang. From your starting point in Marbach it is only a few minutes by bike, until you reach the confluence of the Murr in the Neckar. On the former route of the Bottwartalbahn you cycle directly along the banks of the Murr and enjoy the view over the water. At Steinheim an der Murr, the cozy old town invites you to take a detour to the other side of the river before you continue your tour.On bike paths and roads you cycle further up the river Murr. After a short hike over Burgstall and Erbstetten, which are a bit off the Murr, you will reach your destination Backnang. The old town is a real feast for the eyes. Our tip: Be sure to climb the city tower, the symbol of the city, and enjoy the view.Like all other stages of the Stromberg-Murrtal-Radweg, Backnang has its own train station. With the S-Bahn lines S3 and S4 or the Regional Express R5 you can easily get to Marbach, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg and Karlsruhe. Timetables can be found at vvs.de/vvs and vpe.de/fahrplan/linienfahrplaene/bahnlinien.
