🔵🔵🔵🔵⚪️ (4.2)The multi-day hike, Goldene Straße, has been well worked out by the Franconian Alb Association in this first stage and is a clear recommendation. Frequent changes from forest to field, strong highlights.Sunny and beautiful autumn day at home.

The "Golden Street" had been the most important trade route between Prague and Nuremberg since the 14th century. It ran on a distance of about 300km from the Vltava valley over the Bohemian Forest and Upper Palatinate Jura to the lower Pegnitz valley, with Prague, Karlstein, Pilsen, Bärnau, Plößberg, Weiden,
Sulzbach, Hersbruck, Lauf and Nuremberg as the most important places. The designation “gulden
stras ”has been documented since 1513, but the name cannot be clearly identified. It would be possible that the blooming one
Handel was named, but also an allusion to the destination or starting point, the "golden" Prague.
The golden age of the Golden Road began under Emperor Charles IV (1346-1378), who was also King of Bohemia and Duke of Luxembourg. His goal was to connect the Bohemian kingdom with his Luxembourg homeland by a land bridge. He succeeded in acquiring the northern Upper Palatinate as a "New Bohemian" area up to the gates of Nuremberg with Sulzbach as the main town; The backbone of this area was the Golden Road.
For the 950th anniversary of the city of Nuremberg in 2000, the FAV marked a hiking trail with the sign (white, Bohemian lion on a red background), which roughly follows this old trade route, but tries to avoid the B14. which today is largely identical to the Golden Road ...
