The night was cold. There is a thin layer of ice on the bikes. It's good that there is the option of a hot shower here. We find the first bakery after two kilometers in Nispen. A few kilometers further we pass a farm that sells homemade ice cream. It is still too early for us, but next time I would stop here safely. And then the sandy paths begin. Most of them are easy to drive. But now and then there are also sections where you have to concentrate a lot in order to stay in the lane. Overall, the surfaces on this stage are quite varied. Gravel, meadow paths, sand, asphalt, cobblestones - a bit of everything that is fun.We take our lunch break in Alphen. There are many other options along the route, even outside of the built-up areas. After we drove a lot through dense forest, the heather areas south of Tilburg surprise us with a completely different landscape. Sand and gravel paths meander through gentle dunes. Again and again we come across small bodies of water. In the middle of the Landschotsen Heide there is an observation tower. There is a great view from above. Meanwhile the sun has come out and it is slowly getting warmer. The rest of the day alternate between small forest areas and open heathland. You hardly notice the fact that the Netherlands is so densely populated on our route. In the early evening we reach the Natuurkampeerterrein Klein Frankrijk and pitch our tent on a nice and quiet place next to the lake. We were prepared to cook something for ourselves, but today there is a mobile pizza oven next to the reception, which we cannot resist. The day ends with pizza and beer on the bank while the sun slowly goes down. We have only been on the road for two days and will be back tomorrow, but we feel miles away from everyday life. Happy and satisfied we will soon be lying in the tent and reviewing an eventful day.
