From the S-Bahn station Teltow Stadt, the last stop of the lines S25 and S26, our hike takes you on the shore of the Teltow Canal back to Berlin. The trail runs along the old track of the towpath, which used to pull the barges through the canal. From the shore you have always beautiful views of the water and the renatured banks.Every 20 minutes, the S-Bahn lines S25 and S26 take you to the starting point of your hike. After a short stretch of road, you will reach the shore of the Teltow Canal. This forms here the wet border between Berlin and Brandenburg and was formerly an extremely important connection route from Berlin to Potsdam. Today, cargo ships and barges are still operating here, albeit much less than they were opening at the beginning of the 20th century.Since the canal was a border area at the time of the German division, you can still discover all sorts of remnants of the border fortifications here today. Various signs provide more information for you. Shortly after crossing the border between Brandenburg and Berlin you change to the shore. From the shore path, you now have a good view of the Heizkraftwerk Lichterfelde, which towers on the opposite side of the canal. You continue along the Teltow Canal until you reach the Bäkestraße. Here it goes over the canal and on to the S-Bahn station Lichterfelde Ost. With the lines S25 and S26 you can then drive back to Berlin.
