S-Bahn Berlin planned a hike.

  • S-Bahn Berlin

If you take the S-Bahn line S1 north to the final stop, you will reach the tranquil Oranienburg. On our long tour, your destination is not the famous castle, but the enchanted Briesetal. On quiet forest trails you hike to the river valley and then drive from the S-Bahn station Borgsdorf back to Berlin. And because a swim stop is simply part of a summer hike, we have planned two options for you: right at the beginning at Lehnitzsee and shortly before the end at Briesesee.Oranienburg S-Bahn station is served by line S1 every 20 minutes. From here you hike a little along Bernauer Straße until a hiking trail branches off to the shore of Lake Lehnitz. The hiking trail takes you north around the lake and along the bank for a further stretch. You leave Lehnitzsee on the edge of a housing estate.Shortly afterwards you enter a forest of tall pine, oak and beech trees. Our route winds through the forest until you reach the enchanted Briesetal. The breeze is a very sluggish river that flows through the forest in a meltwater channel from the last ice age. In many places the water seems to stand still and bare trees rise from the broad river bed - a mystical jungle landscape. You follow the hiking path along the Briese and after a dangling through the forest you reach the S-Bahn station Borgsdorf. From here, line S1 takes you back to Berlin.
