It is not far from Erkner train station, the final stop on line S3, to the picturesque Löcknitztal valley. Here the quiet Löcknitz winds through several natural forest areas in several arms. Robust sheep live on the small meadows all year round and work here as landscape carers. Our hike takes you from the train station through the Löcknitztal to Grünheide and along three lakes back to Erkner. At Werlsee - the first and largest of the three lakes - you can also stop for a swim.Erkner station is served by the S3 S-Bahn line every 20 minutes. It goes a bit through the city, after crossing the S-Bahn you meet the Löcknitz for the first time. On the road bridge it goes over the river and immediately afterwards into the rustic forest. A narrow path leads you through the forest and a little later you are back on the bank of the river. The very narrow hiking trail runs close to the shore and finally over a few meters wide headland between Wupatzsee and Löcknitz. On a high wooden bridge you cross the river, which is called Neue Löcknitz here. This section of the river has been straightened so that ships can navigate it better. On the other bank, the route leads you through the forest to the winding course of the Old Löcknitz, which flows peacefully through the forest. You will also cross Alte Löcknitz. On a wide but hardly used forest path you hike further towards Grünheide. The hiking trail diverts past a few weekend houses and then runs under the motorway bridge. Thanks to the soundproof walls, you hardly notice anything of the cars here. From this point you hike pretty close along the banks of the Alte Löcknitz, which winds through the forest in numerous bends and curves. After a while the trail crosses a road. Follow this road north to Grünheide. Here you can take a comfortable break in the Heydewirt café-restaurant.It is only a few steps from the Heydewirt to the swimming area on the Werlsee. Then you hike through Grünheide and on the banks of the Neue Löcknitz to Heidereutersee and Wupatzsee. After strolling along the bank here, the path leads you back to Erkner station.
