Our King's Tour should take place on the third day of our hiking holiday in the Gsieser Tal in South Tyrol, because the weather forecast was excellent.
We drove about 45km via Monguelfo and Toblach to Sexten and from there into Fischlein Valley to the hiking car park at the head of the valley.
We walked to the Talschlusshütte before the true Dolomite experience began.
We hiked over a beautiful, partly sunny, partly shady, but already challenging path to the Dreizinnenhütte. It was full here, but we had a great view of the Three Peaks, some of which were hanging in the clouds. After strengthening with lemonade and cake, we continued. We didn't feel like returning the same way, which is why we climbed further to pay a visit to the Bulleleijochhütte. We were rewarded with wonderful views of the Bödenseen and the surrounding peaks of the Dolomite mountains. We were amazed at the over 100-year-old remains of the entrenchments from the First World War. Here, in such rough terrain, should Italy and Austria-Hungary have waged war? Horrible ... Since we couldn't find a place at the Bülleleijochhütte, we hiked straight on to the Zsigmondyhütte, where - how can it be otherwise - we ordered Kaiserschmarrn again. Even if this was slightly burnt, it made the subsequent descent much easier. This was also more pleasant than the forest roads or gravel roads of the other days. Happy we arrived back at the car and think back for a long time to this great, albeit very exhausting tour!
