With 750 meters in the climb, the 19th stage is a real mountain stage. Luckily you can save some altitude right at the beginning of the tour. Just take the chairlift from Cochem up to the mountain station - this will save you about 250 meters in ascent. Then you hike from the mountain station on the wooded ridge, which offers you always beautiful views of the deeply cut Mosel valley. From the viewpoint Kaiserbäumchen, the Moselsteig takes you leisurely down through vineyards to Klotten, where you can take a first break. From here, the trail climbs through the wildly romantic Dortebachtal valley to a high plateau above the Mosel valley. After a round on the high plateau you wander through the Schilzergraben, a narrow Bachtal valley, down to the Moselle and on to Pommem, where you will also find various rest stops. Here begins the last ascent of the day, which leads you over the Martberg and finally back down to the stage destination Treis-Karden.Treis-Karden is approached directly from the Moseltalbahn, so you can plan this stage as a day hike or end your hike on the Moselsteig. The timetable of the Moseltalbahn can be found at moseltalbahn.de.
