From Beilstein, the 18th stage of the Moselsteig takes you along vineyards in a steep slope along the banks of the Moselle. Even if you have enjoyed countless views of the Moselle Valley in recent days, each panorama still has a unique view of the picturesque river valley.Around Bruttig-Fankel the slope becomes noticeably flatter and without significant differences in altitude, you can wander through the vast vineyards. Only after you have passed the northern outskirts, it goes steeply uphill again. Through the enchanted valley of Kapinder Bach, the Moselsteig leads you up to the magnificent view on the "Iron Mast". Here you can also take a seat on one of the wooden loungers and take a short break. With fresh energy, you then hike on forest trails to the Landgasthaus Kaster, which is perfect for a midday retreat. After your well-deserved break you follow the Moselsteig through forests and open meadows. Shortly before the final destination, the trail runs under the huge rock wall of the Brauselay, which rises high above the Moselle. After passing through the cliff, one of the most famous views of the entire Moselle valley opens up to you: on the opposite bank, on a hilltop high above the Mosel, sits the imperial castle Cochem. Now only a short stretch of road separates you from vineyards along your current destination Cochem. As the 18th stage with 14 kilometers turns out to be relatively short, you can also visit the Reichsburg afterwards.Cochem is located directly on the railway tracks of the Moselle Valley Railway, which brings you comfortably to Trier or Koblenz. Alternatively, you can also take bus 716 back to the starting point Beilstein.
